Jada Pinkett Smith recently unveiled a hair transformation in honor her 52nd birthday. Her previously bleached blonde hair took on a new hue—a gorgeous rose gold.
As she captioned her Sept. 18 post, "This ain't noth'n but a birthday sherbet surprise within a Virgo sunrise."
And the Girls Trip star's comment section was filled with love for Jada's new look, in addition to birthday well wishes, including from costar Tiffany Haddish who wrote, "Happy Birthday!" And in honor of Virgo season, Scandal star Kerry Washington added, "Virgo season's finest. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!"
Her new ‘do is especially meaningful as Jada has been candid about her struggles with losing her hair to alopecia. Back in August, she gave fans a look at how far her hair growth has come recently, by sharing a side by side of selfies. In one, the actress' hair is noticeably longer.
"This here hair is act'n like it's try'n a make a come back," she captioned her Aug. 7 post. "Still have some trouble spots but—we'll see."
But while Jada has come to love her look over the years, she's admitted this hasn't always been the case.
"It was terrifying when it first started," she said about her hair loss on a 2022 episode of Red Table Talk. "I was in the shower one day and then just handfuls of hair just in my hands. I was like, 'Oh my god, am I going bald?' It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking with fear."
Since then, Jada has shown her hair—and others who might struggle with hair loss—lots of love on social media.
Last year, she wished a "happy Bald is Beautiful day to all my brothers and sisters with no hair" in September. And that March, she said in a TikTok, "I don't give two craps what people feel about this bald head of mine. Cause guess what? I love it."
